YouTube Responding to the US Sanctions Against Russia

Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, many companies have taken proper action to install sanctions on the Russian government. Like that, YouTube blocked one of the parliamentarian channels of the Russian Federation.

In response to this, the head of the Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, has released a statement to Washington, accusing them of breaking the right of Russians to freely speak. YouTube was threatened to survive the consequences of its decisions. Volodin added in his Telegram channel that this shows the desire of the US to install a monopoly on information distribution.

Google confirmed the deletion of Russia’s State Duma channel. This was made in response to the US sanctions installed on the country. The company claims to be committed to the execution of the state laws. Being under review, the channel was found as violating the terms of service and accordingly banned.

Russia’s response was quick: the state wants to ban Google from advertising on the territory of the country, and YouTube will be claimed as a platform for spreading misinformation about ‘special operation’ in Ukraine. Google will not be the first one blocked in the country, as Russia previously installed such sanctions on many other platforms that threatened its formation.

YouTube allegedly committed several violations regarding Russian legislation, which could hurt the integrity of the country. The platform is said to share fake news which discourages the people and antagonizes Russian military force. More so, needed measures of dealing with this problem must be installed. This way, Google LLC and its informational resources might be banned in Russia.

What do you think will be Google’s response? How can this problem be addressed? Please, share your opinion in the comments below.
