YouTube Offers Podcasters Money to Make Podcasts into Videos
Content makers keep competing for users’ time which is still only 24 hours a day. Regardless of the platform, though, content is about personalities. That’s why YouTube starts its campaign aimed at podcasters. Those ready to make video versions of their podcasts can claim huge grants for that.
Bloomberg reports that YouTube now actively contacts popular podcasters, convincing them, to create video versions of their podcasts. The grants they may get for this purpose seem enormous. A single creator can get up to $50K, and a podcast network may even receive $200-300K. This is quite a sum to purchase the equipment and the software, master it, and build or customize a studio.
Not that YouTube was strange to podcasts before. But one thing is uploading a podcast with some static picture or primitive animation, and another is making a fully-fledged show, filmed, and produced with professionals using professional equipment. Video is richer because it can display some moments. And those who prefer their podcasts playing in the background can still use an audio-only version.
Though YouTube Music is now on the rise, the primary type of content for YouTube is still video. That’s why the platform does its best to attract new video creators with an established audience. This human treasure requires financial investments, and YouTube is ready. The terms and conditions that come with these grants are unclear, yet. Probably the authors will be obliged to make a certain number of shows periodically and publish them on YouTube only.
If your favorite podcast gets a video version one day, would you rather watch it or listen to the good old audio? Do you think a good podcaster will make a decent video show host? And what are your favorite podcasts, by the way? Let’s drop some names in the comments!
