UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Knocks Call Of Duty Down A Peg To Take Bronze
The UK charts for the week have been released and there are no major surprises as the top ten games have only undergone minor reshuffling. Santa Monica Studio's God of War Ragnarok is at the top spot, followed by FIFA 23 in second place. Fascinatingly, both the Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of FIFA 23 were tied for the lead in their share of platform distribution.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has managed to make its way into third place, knocking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II down to fourth despite a 40% sales fall. It appears that the 64% sales fall of Modern Warfare II has given Nintendo's racer the slight boost it needed to take the bronze. Sonic Frontiers, meanwhile, held strong at number ten this week, falling down from number seven.
The Switch version of Sonic Frontiers dominated the boxed sales, making up a whopping 53% of the platform split. Animal Crossing: New Horizons made its way back into the top ten to come in at number eight, rising four positions from the previous week. This is yet another sign that the game is still incredibly popular, despite being released two years ago.
It's interesting to note that the Switch version of FIFA 23 came joint first with the PlayStation 4 version in terms of the platform split, making up 28%. This goes to show that EA's lack of effort with Nintendo's platform is seemingly paying off in the UK.
All in all, the UK charts have been quite stable with no major surprises or new entries. Santa Monica Studio's God of War Ragnarok still holds the top spot, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe taking the bronze. It appears that the Switch version of games is still popular in the UK, as evidenced by the platform split for FIFA 23 and Sonic Frontiers.
