TikTok and Atmosphere Create Commercial TV Channel

TikTok announced its cooperation with TV service Atmosphere. In recent times, the most popular app nowadays strives to share its content on TV too. TikTok is cooperating with Amazon Fire TV. It has launched its channel TikTok TV. Among other partners are Google TV, LG Smart TVs, Samsung Smart TVs. It also collaborates with mobile TV services like Android TV OS. However, TikTok and Atmosphere cooperation is a little different project. 

From the very beginning, they were planning to add a new channel to the Atmosphere service. It is going to use some of the TikTok content. Only about tens of thousands of videos will be available for the TV service, that is not all the TikTok videos. TikTok TV will broadcast content that lost its popularity on the app after some period. So, it must be a second chance for them. Atmosphere team is going to choose videos that suit their channel from the TikTok library. Then, the team will connect with a creator to get permission to use their creations. 

The next step is content preparation. Atmosphere will remove audio and overlay it with their sound. Some videos will be broadcast without audio. A lot of Atmosphere customers use the service on mute by default. It’s important to note that this collaboration happens only between Atmosphere and TikTok. That means the creators are not paid for their content, they may only agree or disagree to share it. Atmosphere says that it gets most of the content for free, but it spends “low millions of dollars” per year on content creation. Usually, this money is given as an attribution for helping in brand development.
