Teardown Update Part 2 Is Out, with the Story End and the Robots

Grace Edwards 10 Dec 2021

Teardown was one of the most acclaimed indie games of 2021, with its unique world that lets everyone satisfy their appetite for destruction. Is there anything else to wish? Yes. Its storyline had to be concluded, and with the Part 2 update, it looks well-rounded. The even better news is that there is a lot more to destroy.

Though Teardown received Overwhelmingly Positive rates from the very beginning, it’s still in Early Access after all its success. No, the December update does not signify its transmutation into the release version. Instead, it offers more content to its completely destructible, anti-Minecraft world. The story of the criminal destroyer who breaks his way to the objects to steal and then escapes in 60 seconds now seems complete.

Yet it’s not the story most players adore about Teardown the most. It’s the physics that enables you to destroy anything. It’s brick-styled pixelated visuals that yet look smoother and finer than anything else in similar genres. It’s that no object is indestructible in your environment: you can shred everything if you try. And Part 2 gives you even more to shred. If you don’t like the campaign, you can make your own maps in the editor and use the system of quick pathfinding.

Oh, yes, and there are robots. Obviously inspired by the 1980s’ sci-fi movies, these dangerous and intelligent machines try to stop you as you make your way out with the game. They can be destroyed too, and the process of it is very spectacular. If you make your own map, you can as well inhabit it with your own robots.

The developers say there’s just one step for the game to go from Early Access to release. That’s why the current version is named 0.9. The next major update will probably be the 1.0, the real birth of the game.
