Spotify Experiments With a Vertical Feed Similar to TikTok

Would you want to discover new songs by browsing through a TikTok-style feed? Well, it seems Spotify is trying to implement something like that. Although Spotify is not a social network, it has borrowed a leaf from TikTok's playbook by introducing vertical streams for music discovery in an attempt to encourage interaction.

Several users claim that Spotify is experimenting with music discovery tools with vertical feeds, in which videos may be liked as you browse through the screen. The new discovery function builds on Spotify's current Canvas feature by utilizing the existing films that artists play with their music on Spotify.

There are some ways to mute commercials from Spotify without negatively impacting artist royalties. Still, the debut of the vertical feed may deal with multiple ad-related issues. Spotify artists may advertise their new songs and albums more successfully with music video graphics by including sponsored promos with authentic ideas.

Second, Spotify's free adverts have traditionally been included in between music listening sessions. Ads may still be shown in a vertical feed while allowing consumers to easily move to the next song/video. Finally, having vertical feeds like TikTok may allow for real-time sentiment tracking.

Spotify's "like" button allows it to fine-tune its recommendation system by keeping track of the reaction of listeners to its current selections. Unlike TikTok or other short-video services, Spotify has already begun discussions with artists over the licensing of their music. As a result, the new vertical feed for discovering new music has a lot of potentials, both in terms of promotion and content generation.

Do you think this is a good move by Spotify? Would you like a feed like this? Kindly share your opinions in the comment area provided at the end of this page.
