Netflix Reveals Its Top-Title Viewer Statistics

Ethan James 28 Sep 2021

Surprisingly for the entire streaming industry, Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos revealed real viewer statistics on some of the most popular titles on the platform. Streaming platforms usually keep such data closed for the major public, but Netflix decided to ditch the tradition. Here’s what Sarandos showed at Code conference 2021.

Two Slides

In just 2 slides, Sarandos demonstrated the two most important viewer statistics. On the first slide, he showed how many unique users streamed Netflix’s top 10 full-length films and series during their first 28 days on the platform. The selection included all the unique users who viewed at least 2 minutes. Judging by the official chart, the most popular series on Netflix right now is the first season of Bridgerton with over 82 million viewers. The second position in the chart is shared between The Witcher and Lupin, both of which have over 76 million views. The #1 full-length movie in the chart is Extraction.

Going down to the second slide, we can see which titles lead by the total number of hours viewed. The statistics include all the hours streamed by users within the first 28 days on the platform. The chart of shows is still topped by the first season of Bridgerton that has over 625 million hours. The second and the third lines belong to Money Heist and Stranger Things 3 with 619 and 582 million hours accordingly.

More Transparent

As Sarandos says, the streaming giant wants to be more transparent to everyone, including the video streaming market, creators, and investors. However, it might be more exciting for the last to see how many users view the movies from start to end and. There’s no standard for such statistics on the market, though! What do you think the revealed figures actually mean? Let’s chat below and share the news with other Netflix fans.
