Instagram Now Shows Previews When You Share Posts on Other Social Media Sites

Ethan James 24 Dec 2021

The popularity of Instagram is unbeatable at the moment. For some people, it is a platform for business and others use it to simply share moments of their lives with friends. There is a complaint that has been voiced by the app users and it’s the absence of preview when you decide to share posts from Instagram on other sites, such as Twitter. However, this situation is changing.

It has been years since Instagram users asked for this feature to be added. Now, developers of Instagram decided to show previews of posts when you share them on other social media platforms. The announcement comes from the company’s blog post in which they mentioned their intention to improve how content is displayed on other sites. Before this update, all users could see on Twitter when you share an Instagram post as a part of your caption and a link to Instagram. Thanks to this update, users will see a proper preview of the post, which means that they are more likely to get interested and click.

One thing to note is that previews will be displayed if a post comes from a public account. There will be no preview for those who have private Instagram accounts and it makes sense. According to Instagram, these kinds of previews will be applied to reels, videos, and photos, but not to Stories.

In addition to the mentioned feature, it is also possible to embed an Instagram profile on social media sites so that users can see what kind of content you create. Similar to the post preview, it will work only for public accounts. At first, this function will be offered only to users in the United States, but it will become available globally shortly.
