How Is PlayStation 5 Doing?
Some reports for the quarter for April-June are actively coming out, and now it is time to see how the big gaming companies are doing during these trying times. Unfortunately, there is no excellent news for the tech giants, but everything can still change during the last quarter of the year.
First of all, Microsoft is doing better than ever, getting the total revenue for this quarter – but Windows and Xbox sales have notably dropped compared to the same quarter of 2021. In addition, Sony doesn’t seem to be doing good as well. Many companies have gone through a lot of troubles this year, and it definitely will not be the best for businesses.
The company has reported selling 21.7 million units in total this year, and the current quarter reached 2.4 million sales. Nevertheless, analysts have compared the data from previous statements and releases, and PlayStation 5 is actually getting much less success than PlayStation 4, which surged with 25.4 million sales the year it was released – in 2013. Of course, this has to do with big shortages that many tech companies have been dealing with for a long time now.
As of now, PlayStation sales dropped by 2%, and the operating profit went down to 37%. The monthly activity is not improving, with users going from 105 million to 102 million. In addition, the game sales also went down.
Moreover, PlayStation 4 sales are now not disclosed by Sony. Reportedly, the console will stop at 117 million units sold. Despite this, it still has become the second best-sold console over time after PlayStation 2. Although, it seems like Switch might also fight for its place in the rating, putting PlayStation 4 in third place.
Do you think PlayStation 5 can still get its fame? How can Sony increase its sales over time? We would love to hear your thoughts! Please post your ideas in the comment section below.
