Google Is Adding a New Noise-Canceling Feature to Make Its Android 13 Smartphone Calls Clearer
One of the future updates for the Android OS might include a new feature designed to improve the quality of phone calls made via smartphones. The innovation was discovered amidst other improvements and enhancements of the first beta of Android 13 QPR1.
Mishaal Rahman first spotted and reported a feature called Clear Calling while studying the updated build. The new functionality is not available for Wi-Fi calling (VoWiFi) but likely works on most mobile networks, reducing background noises and enhancing the overall quality of phone calls. @MishaalRahman also notes in his post on Twitter that Google will not be able to access the content of users’ private conversations through the Clear Calling feature.
There are no other details regarding Clear Calling yet. It is unknown whether this feature will be exclusive to Pixel smartphones or will be compatible with devices from other brands. The new noise-cancelation tech can be forcibly enabled by sending a couple of simple shell commands and tweaking a few smartphone settings, and you do not need Root rights for this. It is worth noting, though, that there is no proof that the activation has any effect.
Google has been experimenting with noise canceling features for quite some time now, achieving impressive results with its AI-powered background noise suppression feature in Google Meet and its wireless earbuds with active noise control (ANC) functionality.
Do you think that Google will succeed in improving the quality of carrier-based phone calls with its Clear Calling feature? Is it possible that the innovation will remain exclusive to Pixel phones and never extend to other smartphone brands running Android OS? Do you know many people who still prefer to make regular phone calls? Speak your mind in the comments section below!
