'Funny' Reaction on LinkedIn will Soon Be Available to Users
A new way to express your emotions is approaching release. LinkedIn plans to expand the list of possible reactions with the 'Funny' emoticon that will complement the existing set. To be honest, this emoji is not very appropriate for a platform like LinkedIn. However, today it is standard practice for ‘influencer’ platforms to borrow popular features from other apps. Engagement and likes are the main criteria for innovations.
However, even when you’re using the most serious platform that is focused on work, you should not forget about jokes and laughter. As a result, the laughing reaction was one of the most anticipated updates. In February of this year, Tomer Cohen, LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer, said that the most common request is the ability to leave a "laugh" reaction. As you can see, the company listens to the opinion of its users and implements features in accordance with it.
Previously, LinkedIn has already added certain reactions in the form of emoticons. For example, in June 2020, the ‘Support’ emoji appeared in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. 'Funny' is another step forward to meet the expectations of users so that they can have even more fun while using the application.
For now, LinkedIn has neither officially announced a release date for the new reaction, nor added it to the help section for Reactions. But most likely this will happen in the near future, so we should wait for the official statement of the company.
Do you think "funny" reactions are appropriate in an app like LinkedIn? What reaction would you like to see next? Please share your opinion with others in the comments below.
