Top 10 Fresh Games for Android

Ethan James 01 Feb 2021

April 2021 brought a lot of new games onto Android devices. Though none of them seems a real breakthrough, it’s not because they’re mediocre; it’s rather a segmentation that made each of these games a hit mostly for genre fans. But there are many worthy ones we’ll check on.

Doors & Rooms: Escape games

Escape rooms seem one of the most inexhaustible ideas; sharing the same principle, they’re endlessly various in details. The game by Gameday Inc. is here to show us that the exit shouldn’t necessarily look like a rectangular movable piece on fringes.

Arena of Evolution: Red Tides

DOTA fans have always been masters at creating and mastering mods for it. AoE: RT is the second part of a mod like that that’s been ported to a mobile platform and then freed from all DOTA components, like visuals and names.

Still, it’s a great chess-like game with the board and over 60 units that can be upgraded and developed. Although being made by indie developer results in lack of tutorials, noticeable imbalance, some glitches and limited access. It’s like an early access game on Steam so far, and it’s fun to see it evolve.

PGA TOUR Golf Shootout

Golf is harder to emulate and digitize than, say, pool. Besides that, it requires a special atmosphere of luxurious leisure, topnotch at its best. But if a golf game does it, it’s great. PGA TOUR Golf Shootout is quite a good experiment that offers boog physics, various terrains, online PvP mode, and, of course, that vibe of playing a noble game while doing big things. As for developers, they’ve done their big thing and can proceed to the next one.

Evil Dead: Extended Nightmare

The cult Evil Dead 2 movie was a remake rather than a sequel, but it was finally done decently, with more effects, more jokes, better filming and screenplay — better everything. Evil Dead: Extended Nightmare does the same to its predecessor: Endless Nightmare.

Now your hero Ash has more weapons to confront more deadites in more locations, but in general,  it’s the same groovy runner with an ominous atmosphere. This time it’s paid from the beginning, but it’s worth it, as this installment does everything better.

The Phantom Fable

One of the most unusual fantasy games that appeared recently wants you to unleash your creativity. Your characters are on the mission of saving Crystal Gems from the Ancient Book, and it will take some weapons you have to draw yourself! Literally. Using attacks and spells also takes drawing. At least, The Phantom Fable is unusual (though not unique; remember Draw a Stickman).

Fireballz: Lava Labyrinth

Abstract puzzles don’t have to be dull. Fireballz is a greatly drawn game that wants you to connect dots with a fireball that ignites the dots it touches. The game starts with simple levels and then gets more complicated. There are enemies as ice dots that resist your fire, and you’ll need to think them down. Well, it’s better to try it once to appreciate the beautiful way it’s made.

Cat Condo 2

The sequel of Cat Condo preserves the mechanics similar to 2048 and other “doubling” games. You start with a set of small kittens and have to combine them to evolve them into beautiful furry cats. The more of them you combine into one, the further you go. Kittens are cuter than numbers, aren’t they?

The VideoKid

A nostalgic piece for those fond of Ready Player One or Pixels. Your character is a boy who skates around the neighborhood delivering videotapes. It’s not as safe as it seems, so you’ll need to apply your skill to survive. The VideoKid is filled with 1980s feeling, and it’s not just about its setting and pixel design, but also about music and overall vibe. Even the name is a reference to the popular 1980s Dutch disco band; perhaps you remember it if you’re into 1980s too.

TANK BATTLEGROUNDS

Someone had to combine tank games that have been popular from the rise of the industry, and Battle Royale, the latest fashion. TANK BATTLEGROUNDS is the combination of the two, though there are some differences. For example, upgrading is not locked; you need to earn and unlock new tanks before you can just pick them from the battleground! The rest is exactly what you might think about a tank BR.

Metal Slug Infinity: Idle Clicker & 2D Retro RPG Game

Metal Slug is now back as a clicker RPG! The game features all the characters from the original game, as well as new IDLE mechanics. Now you don’t interfere into battling process, but the game remains just as dynamic. Metal Slug Infinity is more about strategy and management, and yet it’s just as thrilling.

Conclusion

Of course, there were more good games and even more updates of those already familiar. But we hope you like at least some games from this selection.
