Stellar Blade puts special emphasis on the design of the protagonist's lower back
Typically, discussions around video game character modeling and design, often focusing on female characters, take place on forums and other community platforms rather than dominating industry news headlines. However, sometimes, it's the development teams and studios themselves that choose to emphasize a specific aspect of a character's appearance, which might be significant for the story or to maintain player engagement.
In a rather straightforward discussion, Hyung-Tae Kim, the director of the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive game Stellar Blade, talked to Gamesradar+ about the visual creation of the game's lead character, Eve. Her design, which was modeled after Korean model Shin Jae-eun, paid particular attention to the detailing of the character's back. The implication here is clear. Kim acknowledges that this choice was quite intentional.
"Design-wise, we put a lot of effort into crafting the back of the character," he explained. "Given that players spend a lot of time viewing the character from behind during gameplay, we found it essential to focus on this perspective."
We will have the opportunity to see Eve's detailed design when Stellar Blade launches on the PS5 on April 26, 2024.
